Vlossak has been interested in dance since an early age when she studied ballet with Nick and Juanita Makaroff at the Makaroff School of Ballet--currently the Children’s Ballet Theatre--for 12 years in Appleton, Wisconsin. While living in Madison doing postgraduate work, Vlossak became interested in international folk dance. She performed with the dance troupe NARODNO! International Dancers from 1986 to 1994. During this time, Vlossak fulfilled a lifelong interest in drumming by learning to play the bodhran, which she played with the Heather Highland Dancers of Madison, Wisconsin. Vlossak joined Call for Peace in February 1994 as a bodhran drummer for the Irish dancers.
